I have never been interested in any of the angel books that everyone is swooning over, the concept does nothing for me, but when I saw this on Netgalley, I thought I'd give it a try.Unfortunately, I should have gone with my instinct and not bothered. Now don't get me wrong, I did finish this, but my takeaway is that I am even more convinced that Angel books and I are not meant for each other. On top of the fact that I found myself rolling my eyes at the whole angel storyline, I thought the main character was whiny and annoying, and the relationships with her family (and everyone else) were so sketchily written, I had trouble relating to, or caring about the characters. I also had problems with the way in which the main character was treated by her family and the mental health system -- there was too much hand-waving about the ways in which she ended up being isolated, so that the choices she made seemed like the only choices -- it was all a little to convenient and unbelievable.Based on some of the other reviews I'm looking at, those who do like stories written in the paranormal/angel mythology are enjoying this, so...take what I've written with a grain of salt.(I read this in December 2012, and just realized I never actually wrote a review! I should have saved it for my Debut Author Challenge. Oh well. Moving on.)
